1, General Description
NPPN-638S is a 100% solids, zero-VOC phenolic novolac epoxy resin specifically developed for solvent-free protective coating formulations. As environmental regulations worldwide restrict volatile organic compound emissions from industrial coatings, NPPN-638S provides an advanced solution that eliminates VOC concerns without compromising the superior chemical resistance of phenolic novolac chemistry. The resin features a viscosity range of 8000-15000 Cps at 25C, enabling direct spray application with plural-component airless spray equipment or single-leg application with pre-heating to 40-50C. With an epoxy equivalent weight of 185-205 g/eq, NPPN-638S provides balanced cure stoichiometry that minimizes mixing ratio errors while delivering crosslink density far exceeding solvent-free BPA-based coating resins.

A: Substrate temperature should be 10-40C and at least 3C above dew point. Pre-warm resin to 40-50C for optimal spray viscosity.

Q: What surface preparation is required?
A: Steel: abrasive blast to Sa 2.5 (ISO 8501-1) with 50-75 micron profile. Concrete: CSP 3-5 surface profile, moisture content below 4%.

Q: Can NPPN-638S be applied in a single coat at 500 microns DFT?
A: Yes, the thixotropic formulation enables single-coat application up to 500 microns DFT on vertical surfaces without sagging.
