Solvent-Free Phenolic Novolac Epoxy Resin for Coatings NPPN-638S

1, General Description
NPPN-638S is a 100% solids, zero-VOC phenolic novolac epoxy resin specifically developed for solvent-free protective coating formulations. As environmental regulations worldwide restrict volatile organic compound emissions from industrial coatings, NPPN-638S provides an advanced solution that eliminates VOC concerns without compromising the superior chemical resistance of phenolic novolac chemistry. The resin features a viscosity range of 8000-15000 Cps at 25C, enabling direct spray application with plural-component airless spray equipment or single-leg application with pre-heating to 40-50C. With an epoxy equivalent weight of 185-205 g/eq, NPPN-638S provides balanced cure stoichiometry that minimizes mixing ratio errors while delivering crosslink density far exceeding solvent-free BPA-based coating resins.

NPPN-638S is designed for high-build solvent-free protective coatings:
1. Internal linings for chemical and fuel storage tanks (immersion service up to 80C).
2. Secondary containment dike and sump coatings for chemical plants.
3. Chemical processing floor toppings and coving systems.
4. Wastewater treatment facility concrete protection.
5. Marine ballast tank and cargo tank coatings.
6. Solvent-free repair mortars and grouts for restoration at thicknesses up to 10mm.


7. Waterborne epoxy resin dispersion alternative with 55% solids option for low-viscosity application.
8. Concrete cement coating and industrial flooring with superior chemical resistance.
9. Marine and offshore protective coating systems with 5000+ hours salt spray resistance.
10. Emulsion-type formulation available for roller and brush application on vertical surfaces. 5, Storage properties:
At least 12 months in sealed containers at ambient temperature.

Product may cause skin and eye irritation. In cases of skin contact wash immediately with soap and water. For eyes, flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention immediately.

Q: What is the recommended application temperature for NPPN-638S?
A: Substrate temperature should be 10-40C and at least 3C above dew point. Pre-warm resin to 40-50C for optimal spray viscosity.

Q: What surface preparation is required?
A: Steel: abrasive blast to Sa 2.5 (ISO 8501-1) with 50-75 micron profile. Concrete: CSP 3-5 surface profile, moisture content below 4%.

Q: Can NPPN-638S be applied in a single coat at 500 microns DFT?
A: Yes, the thixotropic formulation enables single-coat application up to 500 microns DFT on vertical surfaces without sagging.
