Flame Retardant Phenolic Novolac Epoxy Resin NPPN-638S

1, General Description
NPPN-638S is an inherently flame retardant phenolic novolac epoxy resin that achieves UL 94 V-0 classification without the addition of halogenated flame retardants or antimony synergists. The resin's high aromatic content and phenolic backbone provide intrinsic fire resistance through a char-forming mechanism, generating a protective carbonaceous layer when exposed to flame. With a limiting oxygen index exceeding 35%, NPPN-638S significantly exceeds conventional epoxy systems (LOI 19-21%). The resin maintains excellent thermal stability with decomposition onset above 360C, minimal smoke generation, and very low toxic fume emission, making it ideal for stringent fire safety regulations such as EN 45545, FAR 25.853, and IMO FTP Code.

1. Halogen-free FR-4 type PCB laminates for servers, base stations, and automotive electronics.
2. Aerospace interior panels, galley components, and seat structures.
